STUDENT BULLETIN:

FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH: If you have not renewed your Free or Reduced lunch application this year, your student meal benefits are set to expire on October 13th.  You must re-apply each year so if you have not already done so, please do this as soon as possible.

SENIORS: Today is the registration deadline for the November SAT.  This is the last SAT test date many colleges will accept.  If you are 4-year college bound and haven’t taken the SAT or ACT, or if you need to improve your score, sign up today at sat.org.

TOMORROW YOU HAVE PLANS!  You are going to attend the district career/college fair at Grossmont College from 1-4:00 pm.  This is the big one and it’s for all students.  More information, including the program, is available on the district website at www.guhsd.net.  Students from the whole district will be there….will you be there?

PEACE COUNCIL has a new president and vice president.  It was a very close election and congratulations go to Noemi Gonzales (president) and Alex Ambrosio (vice president).  New members are always welcome and meetings are Wednesdays at lunch in room 105.

SENIOR VS FACULTY: Attention all seniors! If you are interested in playing in the Senior vs. Faculty basketball game, come to room 313 at lunch on Tuesday, October 13. 

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY: If you received a notice that you qualified for NHS (National Honor Society), applications have been extended to Tuesday, October 13th.  Please see Mrs. Erpelding in room 313.

BADMINTON PLAYERS WANTED!  The new Badminton Club is looking for some competition.  If you love the game and want to play at a higher level, come to our first meeting on Wednesday, October 14 at lunch in the gym.  All are welcome.

SENIOR T-SHIRTS: Attention Seniors – today is the last day to buy a t-shirt.  See Mrs. Erpelding in room 313 with your money.

THE PURPLE TENNIS NATION split matches this week.  The Benjamin sisters were a collective 9-1 on the week and have a whopping 47 wins on the season.  In other news this week, 4 of our ladies have joined the 6 minute mile club.  Captain Bailee Hunter leads the way and has been joined by both Sydney and Melody Benjamin and newcomer Rafal Hussein.  Great jobs ladies….see you at lunch.

ON-LINE ATHLETIC CLEARANCE: The new online athletic clearance is now up and running on the Santana webpage.  If you will be playing a winter or spring sport, pick up a physical form from Mrs. King in the VP Office and then the rest of the clearance process will be online.  If you have already cleared for a fall sport and wish to play a winter or spring sport, you will not need the physical form from Mrs. King, but you will still need to go through the online clearance process.

HOMECOMING ASSEMBLY: Today is our first Homecoming Assembly where you will be introduced to all of the King and Queen candidates. Immediately following the assembly, you will be voting for your top 5 Kings and Queens in your 5th period class.

HOMECOMING COURT: The winners and members of the 2015 Homecoming Court will be announced next week at the Senior/Faculty Basketball game during half time. The game is Wednesday, October 14th at 7:00pm in the gym. Tickets will be sold at the door $3 for entry. Come watch our Faculty dominate once again!

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS:

ZOMBIE CLUB: If you want to survive the Zombie Apocalypse, come join the Zombie Club every Wednesday’s at lunch in Ms. Chandler’s room, S7.  New members are welcome.  We are all infected.

READING CLUB: Meets in the library every Friday at lunch.  If you enjoy a good read and sharing your love for literature, come join us.

KEY CLUB: Want to make quality friends and become more involved in school activities while earning your volunteer hours?  Thursday’s at lunch in Room 107.

A.C.E.: Santana’s Architecture, Construction, and Engineering after school program also known as ACE meets Wednesday’s in 802, right after school at 2:00.  Students who join ACE will have an opportunity to earn high dollar scholarships for participating.  To learn more, come to the meeting or see Mr. Kay for more information.

PEACE COUNCIL: Wednesday’s at lunch in room 105.  We focus on building a better Santana community, community service, and fun activities.  New members are welcome!

SCIENCE FICTION CLUB:  Join the Science Fiction Club as we look deep into the new Sci/Fi blockbuster, The Martian.  Room 207, Wednesdays at lunch.

ECOLOGY CLUB:  We use to be called the Clean Water Club but are now the Santana Ecology Club.  We want to do even more to help the environment, but will still do some of the great things we had before, such as an upcoming beach cleanup and barbecue.  We meet on Wednesdays at lunch in room S8.  Come join us to learn more about what we do and to pick up information and flyers for the cleanup.

THE TRAVEL CLUB: There is a special lunch meeting next Wednesday for all members of the Travel Club.  Lunch will be provided, so be there!

THE COLOR SPECTRUM CLUB is your Santana LGBT club and meets Thursdays at lunch in room 402.  We invite you to come and hang out, learn about LGBT issues, meet new friends, and help us plan some fun and exciting events.

CHRISTIAN CLUB: Every Thursday at lunch in room 704.

ART CLUB: Next Wednesday come to room Ms. Rowland’s room – 703, at lunch for Art Club.  No experience necessary and all are welcome.  The more the merrier!
