STUDENT PARKING PERMITS: Don’t forget - If you drive to school, you must obtain a student parking permit.  Pick up a green application form in Mrs. King’s office, have a parent sign it and return it to her for your sticker.  You must also reapply if you obtained a parking permit from last year. 

EARLY RELEASE STICKERS: If you get out of school after period 5, please bring your ID card to Mrs. King and get an early release sticker on the back of it.  If you do not have an ID card yet, carry your schedule with you for early release verification.

WELCOME BACK ASSEMBLY: Today ASB is hosting the Welcome Back Assembly!  Come join us in the gym and sit with your graduating class.  We will be introducing the fall sports and will have a bit of competition with our team captains and classes.  At the assembly we will be starting a new tradition at Santana, Battle of the Classes.  Some come and cheer on your fellow classmates.  It should be a scream!  ASB will also be hosting its Welcome Back Dance after the varsity football game against Castle Park.  The dance is from 8-10:30 pm.  Tickets are on sale in from of the student store during lunch.  Pre-sale prices are $10 or $7 with an ASB card.  At the dance, the ticket booth will be open at 7:30 pm.  The price at the door is $12.

CSF: Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors – CSF will start handing out this semester’s applications on Monday, September 14th in the library and in room 208 from Mrs. Barelka.  If you got A’s and B’s last semester in the core subjects you are eligible.  If you are a member 4 out of a possible 6 semesters, you get a gold seal on your diploma.  Deadline is Monday, September 28th.

SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL NEEDS YOU!  Do you want to make a difference?  Are you interested in the direction Santana High School is going?  Like working with staff, other students and parent?  Then School Site Council is for you.  Students must be nominated and elected to serve on the council, so if you know someone who you think would do a great job, please stop by Ms. Bingham’s desk in the front office and give her your nomination no later than Friday, September 18.

SENIOR PARKING SPOTS: Attention Seniors – We have 12 spaces left if you still want to buy a parking spot.  Please see Mrs. Erpelding in room 313 and bring $50.  First come, first serve.

TEXTBOOKS: If you have textbooks from last year, please return them ASAP to Mrs. Teschler or Mrs. Winslow in the library or book room.  Books that are not returned by the end of September will get a permanent book replacement/processing fine put on your account.  You have 2 weeks to clear this up, so if you have any questions, see Mrs. T in the library.

ID CARDS: We still have a lot of ID cards in the library.  Your ID cards identify you as Sultans, so you should have them with you at all times when you are on campus.  Starting in October, you will need your cards for all library transactions, so come pick yours up ASAP.  If you don’t have an ID card, make-up picture day is on September 23rd.

YEARBOOKS: On sale now for the lowest prices of the year.  Get yours online or at the finance office.

SENIOR PICTURES: Seniors – You will be graduating this year and that means it’s time to take your senior portrait now.  Schedule yours ASAP with Boyd Anderson.  The session is absolutely free, but your must be photographed there to be featured in the yearbook.  Call them at 444-1184 or go to

SUMMER PHOTOS: The yearbook is already at work and wants to include your voice on the summer page.  If you have any photos to share please visit and enter in school code ‘Santana’ for possible submission into the yearbook.  We are seeking photos of everything; vacations, concerts, summer school, playing sports, or even just hanging out in Santee.  We want to show what you really did this summer.

THE PURPLE TENNIS NATION had a rough week losing both matches.  However, there are individuals to celebrate.  Sydney Benjamin has continued playing well and racked up 4 more wins moving her record on the year to 13-2.  In doubles play, both wins this week belonged to the team of Sophia Martorana and Bridget Fyson.  The JV team split this week and has moved their overall record to 4-1.  Leslie Santos had a strong week going 3-1.  See you at lunch ladies.

GIRLS SOFTBALL: Anyone interested in softball this year, there is a meeting next Thursday, September 17th at lunch in room 304.

ATTENTION ALL BASEBALL PLAYERS: There will be a quick meeting for anyone interested in playing baseball this year in room 209 at the beginning of lunch today.  This meeting is for all grade levels.  If you are currently playing a fall sport, you are not required to attend.


ZOMBIE CLUB: If you want to survive the Zombie Apocalypse, come join the Zombie Club every Wednesday at lunch in Ms. Chandler’s room, S7.  New members are welcome.  We are all infected.

TRAVEL CLUB: Join us as we travel to Italy and Greece for a 14 day trip and the last 3 days are a Greek Cruise.  We will be meeting next Friday at lunch in room 705.  So, if you’re signed up, please plan on being there or if you want information on the trip, stop by.  Come talk to Mr. Martinez in room 705 for more information.  CIAO!

READING CLUB: Meets in the library every Friday at lunch.  If you enjoy a good read and sharing your love for literature, come join us.

KEY CLUB: Want to make quality friends and become more involved in school activities while earning your volunteer hours?  Then come to room 107 this Thursday at lunch to join Santana’s Key Club.

A.C.E.: Santana’s Architecture, Construction, and Engineering after school program also known as ACE begins Wednesday, September 16 in Mr. Kay’s room, 802, right after school at 2:00.  Students who join ACE will have an opportunity to earn high dollar scholarships for participating.  To learn more, come to the meeting or see Mr. Kay for more information.

PEACE COUNCIL: Come join us for Peace Council’s first meeting on Wednesday, September 15 at lunch in room 105.  We focus on building a better Santana community, community service, and fun activities.  New members are welcome!
