Grossmont Union High School District Registration Requirement

(being registered is required prior to selecting/requesting school of attendance)

All students must be registered in our district before attending school. To register, complete the online form. If you don't have computer access, visit Santana with Chromebook kiosks for assistance.
 

School Assignment and School Choice

Your child will be assigned a school based on your family's address. If you prefer a different school, register before the deadline to participate in School Choice.
 

What is School Choice?

What:  A program that allows families to request a school other than the student's school of residence.
When: For the 2026/2027 school year, after registration is complete and approved, after December 1, 2025, and before the deadline of 4:00 PM on February 20, 2026.
 
Sibling Transfers: If your family qualified for sibling transfer, a School Choice Request needed to have been submitted during the School Choice Window. 
 

General Process

  • Complete an 
  • Create an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account. You should receive the invitation to create an account 1 to 2 days after your registration has been approved.
  • Submit a School Choice request through your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account during the School Choice window. (See Timeline Details above.)
  • Wait for the School Choice results to be posted. 
    NOTE: After you have successfully submitted your School Choice request, you will see a status of "Currently Unavailable" until after the School Choice results have been posted.
 

Key Dates:

  • Registration and School Choice Opens: December 1, 2025 @ 8:00 am
  • School Choice Window Closes: February 20, 2026 @ 4:00 pm
  • School Choice Results Emailed: March 9, 2026 by 4:00 pm 
  • Accept Assigned School: March 9-13, 2026 by 4:00 pm

FAQ

Do I have to register my child if they already attend the school?
Yes, your child will need to re-register through the Infinite Campus portal. 
 
How do I know which school my child is assigned to?
You can use our School Boundary Locator to find your child's assigned school. 
 
What happens if there is not enough space for my child?
If there is not enough space to accommodate all requests, students will be selected based on a random lottery of all students who submitted requests during the School Choice window.
 
If my student has a sibling at another school, does my student automatically get to attend that school?
No. You still have to register your student and make a school choice request.  However, students with siblings in the same household who will be attending at the same time will have priority during School Choice. Note: Sibling transfer only applies to siblings in the same primary household. When registering your new student, make sure that all parent/guardian and household information is correct and matches what we have for your older student, otherwise we will not be aware of the sibling relationship.
